International Programmes
We believe transformation is possible and we are filled with hope for a better world for all.
We believe all people are created with inherent value but injustice and broken relationships have trapped people in cycles of poverty and systems of inequality. But we have seen genuine transformation occur at individual, family, and community levels! We have seen children rescued from orphanages and reunited with their families. We have seen local communities respond with generosity to provide practical demonstrations of compassion to those in need.

Ethiopia
Tearfund Ireland walks alongside our partners to help people overcome poverty, withstand crises and transform their communities.
Since 2008, more than 1.5 million people have experienced life-change through Tearfund Ireland projects, which receive funding from Irish Aid, Tearfund Australia, and CEDAR Fund.
Using a Self Help Group approach women are supported to utilise the resources they have to increase household income and lift themselves out of poverty. Joining with other women in their community they build resilience through deepening relationships and learning new skills.
The holistic nature of this project also:
- Increases food security through Conservation Agriculture and Sustainable Organic Agriculture methods
- Mitigates climate disasters through disaster risk reduction trainings
- Addresses gender injustices through supports and trainings for women and girls
- Increases economic opportunities through training in business skills
- Reduces conflict through peace building activities at grass-roots level
- Facilitates community transformation through churches choosing to work for the benefit of everyone living around them.

Cambodia
We believe every child deserves a safe, loving family.
In Cambodia there are many orphanages or institutions housing children. However, most children living in Cambodia’s orphanages have parents and other relatives who could look after them if given the appropriate support.
Tearfund Ireland has been walking alongside M’lup Russey in Cambodia for more that 15 years.
M’lup Russey works to strengthen families so they can stay together, and offers alternative placements in a family setting, instead of an orphanage, for children with no family.
M’lup Russey is also equipping local churches to understand the practical role they can play in keeping families together.
Would you like to help strengthen families and keep children in a safe, loving home?

Lebanon
Ireland has many connections with Lebanon. Tearfund Ireland has been walking alongside our partner in Lebanon, MERATH, since 2013.
The people of Lebanon have faced multiple challenges over the past decades. The internal conflict within Syria led to more than 1.5 million refugees arriving in Lebanon straining its economy and social support systems. The Church responded with shelter, aid, essential supplies, and non-formal education for children.
The blast in the port of Beirut in 2022, the economic collapse, and the conflict at its southern border in 2024 has left multiple thousands of Lebanese internally displaced. And, in 2025, thousands more refugees arrived into northern Lebanon following sectarian violence in Syria. Tearfund Ireland is committed to walking alongside our partners as they walk alongside the vulnerable in their community.
EMERGENCY SUPPLIES
Tearfund Ireland has continued to provide necessary supplies to improve the day-to-day living conditions of refugees and internally displaced people. We have also supported delivery of food vouchers and e-cards (digital cash). We have also supported the provision of shelter, food, and mattresses. All these are practical.
NON-FORMAL EDUCATION AND SAFE SPACES FOR CHILDREN
It is incredibly difficult when children become refugees. The trauma is multiplied when they are not able to do the normal things children should be free to do.
Tearfund Ireland helps provide non-formal education opportunities and safe spaces for children who are in the refugee camps. These make-shift facilities have provided respite and hope for many children who are forced to adapt to a new way of living – however long that may be for them.
Would you like help us continue these important projects.

Humanitarian Disasters
When disasters or emergencies occur, we respond through our network of trusted partners.
We are members of the Tearfund Family, the Integral Alliance, and the Irish Emergency Alliance.
IRISH EMERGENCY ALLIANCE
We believe there is greater impact if we work together with others. In Ireland, there are many humanitarian organisations asking for support. But the Irish Emergency Alliance ensures that any donations made by the public will be shared across the members of the alliance. This act of solidarity between the members of the Irish Emergency Alliance ensures a more effective use of public donations.
Tearfund Ireland is a member of CHS Alliance
