Our Work

At Tearfund Ireland we believe that transformation is possible, we have hope for a better world, a more equal world.

Through our partners working on the ground and at grassroots level, we have witnessed the transformation of individuals, families and whole communities; lifting themselves out of poverty for good. We know thousands of children who have been protected from human trafficking and rescued from it and children in orphanages who have been reunited with their families after poverty had driven their parents to send them to orphanages.

Before, you knew us for our droughts, our poverty. But now the poor are transforming this country, and poverty shall no longer be our name.

Our Motivation

As Christians we believe that God calls us to ‘whole-of-life’ Christianity and to live out our faith as ‘salt and light’ in the world we live in. Tearfund Ireland is a leading voice on issues of social justice and is a vehicle by which individual Christians and churches can actively engage in responding to extreme poverty and injustice overseas.

Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.
