Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. – James 2: 17

Making A Difference

Fiona is a Tearfund volunteer passionate about justice. She shared this passion with her church in Mullingar.

Her church raised funds through a cake sale and prayed for a church in Malawi. The church in Malawi, led by Pastor Cuthbert, is helping mothers affected by HIV. And providing drought-resistant crops to farmers affected by a changing climate.

Fiona is part of a miracle. A global miracle that’s transforming lives .

Wanted: another miracle-worker

Faith without action is dead? Those are challenging words. How should we respond?

At Tearfund we want to inspire and equip Christians in Ireland to understand God’s heart for the poor: to pray, to give, to act. It all counts.

We also want to help you speak out against injustice and lobby for positive change.

Inspiring and Equipping

We want to equip you with the resources you need to inspire your local church or small group and help them make a difference in a world overshadowed by injustice. Visit our resources and events pages to find out more.

HIV and stigma in Ireland

‘Can you get HIV from shaking someone’s hand?’ a friend asked me recently. I was shocked that a well-educated Irish person could know so little. Tearfund Ireland and its partner ACET are working with churches across Ireland to change attitudes towards HIV. Pastor Adewale Kuyebi of Christ Apostolic Church in Dublin says “There is a great deal of ignorance about HIV among my congregation”. We were able to provide training and resources for his church and others like it across Ireland.

Speaking out

We also want to help you speak out against injustice and to lobby for positive change. We are advocating at national and international levels of government and civil society to challenge and change unjust policies, structures and systems that keep people vulnerable and marginalised. We also work in partnership with organisations like Dóchas to influence key decision-makers and policies within both the Irish Government and the European Union.
