Thanking God for Tearfund Ireland’s first 10 years… – 12 Jul 2018

Ten years ago, as we answered God’s call and launched Tearfund Ireland, we set our focus on helping the world’s most vulnerable, isolated and broken people, in the hardest to reach places. We have a lot to be thankful for. We’ve been able to directly support more than 680,000 people in the 23 emergencies we’ve responded to. We’ve mobilised and supported nearly 9,000 churches in poor communities, supported more than 3,000 families, helped 15,803 women out of prostitution and help protect 5,191 children from being trafficked.

There are too many places to list – but the ripples of transformation have answered the call of communities facing emergencies in Syria, the Philippines, South Sudan, Nepal, Haiti, The Central African Republic, Yemen, Pakistan, Iraq, Vanuatu, the East and North Africa food crises, and the Ebola crisis. From our anti-trafficking work in Cambodia to our alternative care for orphans in Zimbabwe; from our projects helping women leaving prostitution in India, to our skills training for women in Uganda; from our Self Help Group programme empowering Ethiopian women to use their own God-given potential, to our Mother Buddies work changing the future for women living with HIV in Malawi: our impact and reach has exceeded our size.

And we thank God and we thank you our supporters for standing with us to demonstrate generosity, active compassion and hope in the face of very hopeless situations. Thank you!

We will be marking this milestone year in the Autumn at a special service with RTÉ which will be broadcast on October 28th. If you don’t already receive email updates from us, sign up now so we can keep you up to date with the celebrations and journey with us as we embark on a new decade of service to the world’s most forgotten people.
