Tearfund Ireland Volunteer Role Descriptions
Champion what Tearfund Ireland is doing in your church and beyond.
The local church is the heartbeat of Tearfund. Our vision is to see millions of people released from material and spiritual poverty through a worldwide network of local churches. Could you inspire your church and others to be part of this?
We will support and equip you to speak about Tearfund’s work; Champion and represent our work in your church by showing our DVDs, distributing flyers, posters; coordinating Tearfund activities in your church and wider networks; inspiring prayer and other creative ways of representing us!
Be a change maker – campaign and speak out on behalf of the poor and marginalised.
Advocate with and for the oppressed. Campaign, lobby and speak out against injustice. Change the world with us from right where you are. Motivate other people in your church, community or circle of friends to join a movement of people seeking justice and ending poverty. Mobilise ordinary people to have a voice by signing campaign cards, getting your message heard through creative means like a video, a vox pop, a concert, a song – whatever way you think you can make a difference, we need you with us – be a change maker
Support us at Committee level in our Fundraising Strategy or fundraise locally.
Tearfund Ireland values the support of churches, individuals, businesses and trusts/foundations. Without the generosity of its supporters, Tearfund Ireland would be unable to respond to the many needs of people and communities we work with in some of the world’s poorest countries. We are constantly encouraged by the transformation work of the local church in the countries we work in.
We are seeking the expertise and experience of a volunteer with national fundraising experience to assist us in raising more support to reach those in greatest need across the world. Is this you? Have you worked within the charities sector and have a deep desire to help us grow our work overseas? Would you be willing to share this knowledge and experience with our staff team and Board?
Local fundraisers needed!
The hope of the world is found in Jesus and He works through the local church, you and me! Are you a willing and able fundraiser who can help us in bringing this hope in practical ways by helping us raise the funds to reach more people in greatest need? Are you willing to put your talents and passions towards raising funds? (If you are an avid sports person, musician, mountain climber, Baker – then you can change the world with us by using your passion to raise funds!)
Advise Tearfund Ireland on its Development Education Programme.
Are you passionate about tackling the root causes of poverty, injustice and inequality? Do you have the specialist Development Education skills, expertise and experience to advise Tearfund Ireland as we take people on a journey to create a more just and sustainable world?
If so, are you willing to advise our staff team on how to engage our supporters in this journey and process? Can you assist us in growing our development education work across the church in Ireland? Will you bring your experience and expertise to our committees, Board and Staff?
Mobilise Irish churches in their own communities – Holistic Mission.
As part of our local and global effort to tackle poverty, Tearfund Ireland seeks to actively address disadvantage here at home realising that thousands of people on our own doorstep are living in desperate need. We believe that the answers to this poverty lie in the hands of local churches that are filled with Christians passionate about seeing God’s Kingdom come on earth. Could you be the catalyst for change? Do you want to be part of a global movement with Tearfund?
We are seeking passionate mission hearted volunteers who we would support and equip to actively engage in their own communities in responding to those in need, demonstrating Christ’s love in practical ways. Are you passionate about seeing people who are hurting and suffering witness His love by providing support to the homeless, people with emotional illnesses, addiction and other forms of poverty? We can help you and your church in bringing hope and transformation – let’s do this together for His glory!

We are seeking someone with the right skills, experience and time to manage, equip and grow a network of highly skilled, passionate and enthusiastic supporters throughout the country. If you feel you are being called to this role we would love to hear from you.

A significant part of growing awareness and support is through national and regional events, conferences, festivals and other events. These events are key to us getting the message of what we do out to a wider audience, grow a heart for Kingdom Mission across the church In Ireland and raise financial support to our work.
Are you a skilled and enthusiastic administrator who can organise all details from the small to the significant?
